Near the Mule Deer ranges of the Sonora Desert, the majestic Sierra Madre Mountains rise in the east. Soaring to 8,000 feet, and blanketed with oak, pine and cactus, it is the ideal range for the elusive desert Whitetail, or Coues Deer. The antler and body size of our Coues Deer is truly impressive – you could hunt a lifetime in Arizona and New Mexico without ever seeing the size and quantity of Coues that you’ll see in a single day hunting the Sierra Madres.
Often, a Coues hunt can be combined with a Mule Deer hunt – making it a deer hunt of a lifetime and giving you two of the four animals necessary for a grand slam of American deer.
As soon as the hunter arrives at the Hermosillo airport, he is met by an English-speaking associated to help through customs. With proper preparation, Mexican customs are a breeze. From there, it is a short, one-hour drive to the hunting ranch.
The camp is best suited to four hunters hunting five full days. The package includes 1 x 1 guides, accommodation (ranch house with full, but rustic, facilities), all meals, ground transportation to and from Hermosillo and hunting areas, beer, soft drinks, horses (when needed) and field care of your trophy. If you like Mexican food, you’re going to love our kitchen.
Hunters wake up at 5:00 am, enjoy a full breakfast, then spend the rest of the day in the field (minus a little siesta time.) Your native guide will carry all you need for the day: water, lunch, binoculars, etc.. Returning at dusk, you’ll enjoy a hot shower, a delicious dinner and beer around the fire pit.
